We’ll be honest, we aren’t sure the world needs another email in its inbox. But the team at Kindtagious keeps running into these incredible stories of real people doing really cool things. It drives us a little crazy that you basically have to go digging to find these headlines, while the bad stuff finds you no problem. So we’re flipping that. Every week we’ll send you three real people doing real good, plus one small thing you can go and do yourself. This is the very first issue of The Good News. Thanks for reading.

| Fraser Logan Has Been Writing Poems to Strangers Since January |

Perched on a park bench with an old typewriter balanced on his knees, Fraser Logan smiles with a sign that reads: “May I write for you?”
According to BBC News, the 32-year-old recent PhD graduate writes stream-of-consciousness-style poems in three minutes for strangers, often inspired by a single-word prompt. Sometimes, the prompts even verge on the deeply personal.
Logan wants to see unfiltered responses to his work, so he films his interactions with those who stop. Those who interact with him explore the impact of real, flesh-and-blood humans saying, “I see you, and I empathize with you” in real time. |

It was Ryder Williams’ first summer on the job at a Santa Cruz beach when a 10-year-old was pulled into the ocean by a wave. The shore break was heavy enough that bystanders who tried to help had to be waved off. Ryder went in anyway.
“I radioed it in, threw my radio and sunglasses at the base of my tower as I ran toward the kid,” Ryder said in a statement shared by California State Parks. “I put my fins on my wrist, popped my buoy and entered the water to get a hold of the child.”
He reached the boy and held on through wave after wave until a second lifeguard reached them, and they made it back to shore. The boy’s father said a couple more seconds, and it would’ve ended differently.
In response to the incident overall, Ryder is quoted as saying, “This is my job, and I love what I do.” |

According to reporting by FOX13, a bolt of lightning hit Casey Pettus’ truck on a Utah highway and burned it down to the frame, tools and all. Luckily, he walked away just fine, but every tool he works with was gone.
That night his 9-year-old son approached him on the deck and held out a wad of cash with every dollar he’d saved for a dirt bike he’d been wanting.
“He’s been really diligent in making money and saving money,” shared Pettus regarding his son. “He doesn’t spend a lot because he has goals. He started a little business where he helps the neighbors bring out their trash cans and put them away.”
Instead of continuing to save the money for his bike, the boy wanted his father to have the money to buy new tools. Casey turned it down, but he couldn’t stop talking about it afterward. “I’d never felt so loved.” |
